Montgomery County Kennel Club

Each year in early October, terrier folks make a pilgrimage to eastern Pennsylvania. The days leading up to the 'big dance' are filled with Puppy Sweeps, all breed shows, Obedience trials, Agility tests....

Come early Sunday morning, the participants are gathering under the big tents, preparing their entries for the biggest of the big, the STCA National Specialty. Unlike that 'other' show in NYC, Montgomery is not just about Champions, instead this is to show the up and coming, the youngsters with promise, as well as to showcase the Champions.

This is the holy grail of Specialties, breeders work all year in preparation for this day, knowing that one dog or bitch will walk away with Best of Breed, another with Best of Opposite, and one very lucky dog & bitch will go home with 5 point majors, and the prestige of winning it over 50 - 100 competitors. Just being in the ribbons at Montgomery is an accomplishment!
